We are once again at the start of the spring semester, and I am once again amazed at how different it is from the fall semester. There is no comparison, really. We were musing the other day about how if this were the fall, we'd be dying of heat stroke on the school mall every day, and doing a different event and following up students every night. As it is, we are reconnecting with students we already know and moving forward in relationships already established. It's wonderful.
For the past four years, we have kicked off the spring semester with a weekend trip to Gilbert, and this year is no different. It never ceases to amaze me that the very simple act of getting away for the weekend to my hometown ends up being a major highlight for our students. Of course, I always love being home, but the fact that others would so enjoy the annual tour of the dairy, picnic lunch by the lake, and dinner at Joe's Real BBQ fascinates me.
This year we are privileged to have Mike Jordahl, the collegiate president of The Navigators, join us as we relax and play. I'm thrilled that our students will have the opportunity to be around and listen to this amazing man of God. He has a strong yet gentle and welcoming manner which just oozes Jesus. I can't wait!

I have to say, I prefer my strudel not burnt with just a bit icing drizzled on top.
