Ann's Birthday

This weekend, my roommate, Ann, turned 26, and boy did we celebrate. On Friday night, we did a roommate dinner at Miguel's on Coronado Island.Dinner was followed by an evening in downtown San Diego with some new friends, during which I witnessed my first drunken fistfight. (Don't worry, we were not in harm's way - it was just a notable way to spend the evening.) We headed home, and celebrated at midnight with a slice of flourless chocolate cake.

Saturday was the big day, and we had about 50 of Ann's friends join us in a party at Club 5111. I got to pull out my party-planning skills, and had a great time spending the day getting ready. Of course, the thing that makes a party is not the food or the music or the decor, but the people, and Ann has a knack for gathering together some of the most fun people. Several of our friends came down from LA...

...and one of Ann's "brothers", Jamie, surprised her by flying in from San Francisco.
We had a "Wall of Ann", where I made a big sign, and then asked people to bring pictures, and write notes to add to it. By the end of the night, it was quite the colorful way to cover up the wood paneling in our living room. (It is, in fact, still there.)
Overall, it was a sweet time to celebrate the life of a wonderful woman. Happy birthday, Ann.
