The Summit (with pictures!!)

So, as I mentioned before, the summit was so good. I love the people with whom I work, and I love getting to share life with them, even if it's only for a week every six months. This summit I felt like I got more time to really get to know some people in my class I hadn't really connected with before. And, I got to dig deeper with friends I connected with at the beginning. Two of those friends are Meghan and Katie:Both of these girls have become dear to me, and I look forward to continuing to serve with them on EDGE this year, and to living life with them after our EDGE experience ends. We celebrated Meghan's birthday during the summit, and I think I was able to sufficiently embarrass her with a "Birthday girl" tiara, which I made her wear through at least part of funding school.
We enjoyed a fun day in Denver, where we went to a Rockies game against the Diamondbacks. My fellow Arizonans and I cheered for the D-Backs, and I'm happy to say we won the game. :) Several of the guys got it into their heads to be the best Rockies fans ever, by painting their chests and cheering throughout the whole game. I think they lose the title of best ever due to their spelling skills.Their hope was that the spelling error might give them a better chance to be on TV - maybe during a blooper reel? Fortunately, a kind usher came and told the boys that there was an auto dealership in Denver called Rocky's, and therefore they wouldn't show the guys on TV or the jumbo tron, giving the dealership free advertising. So, the guys wised up and did a little repainting, spelled it right, and got on the jumbo tron as well as TV.

We also enjoyed our last night out miniature golfing.Mikey and John took the game seriously...or not. They both chose to use kid-sized clubs, and the rules were "play it as it lays." Hit it into the grass? Play it as it lays. Hit it into the rocks? Play it as it lays. Hit it into the water? Play it as it lays. Let's just say it was probably the most eventful mini-golf game I've played.

Lest you think all we did was play, let me be sure to inform you that we spent a lot of time getting good input from great teachers in the Navs. I just don't have pictures of them. My two favorite things were a devotional by Jerry Bridges on the Love of God and a workshop by Lauren Libby on Character. I can't tell you how grateful I am to get the opportunity to be around men like these who love God and have a passion for drawing others to Him. It truly is a privilege to learn from them.

Now, to end with a few more random pictures of friends from the summit:

Krista, I am *supposed* to ask you who won the mini golf game... although Mikey told me to ask you so I'm going to take a wild guess and say it was him?
Also, it was FUN to see your pictures. I haven't *met* Mikey yet but he's coming to Japan this summer and Mary and I know Timothy Price because we did fundraising school together. So that was fun to see both of those guys.
Edge sounds amazing. I was just talking to Jim Luebe about the changes Edge has seen through the years. Sounds great.
Enjoy Zambia. Love you girl.
