Wow. I'm realizing that it was easier to keep my blog updated when I was in Zambia, even with the sketchy Internet access. It turns out, when that was my only way of communicating with family and friends, it was a priority. Now that I'm back, other things occupy my time, and so I find all of a sudden it's been a week since my last post.
My parents came into town last Friday, which was soooooo good. I hadn't seen them since before I left for Zambia, so it was good to get some time to catch up face-to-face. We had lunch together, sat and talked for awhile at my house, and then they treated me and some friends to go see The Bourne Ultimatum - incredible movie, by the way. In most trilogies, by the time you get to the third one, it gets a little old. This one wasn't old at all. It packed the same intensity as the first two, and kept me riveted the entire time. I'm always intrigued by movies about the CIA anyway, and these ones are so well made, I just thoroughly enjoy them. But I digress... The time with my folks was refreshing, and I only wish we could've spent more time together. My parents know me pretty well, and they love Jesus, so I can always count on them for some good perspective whether it has to do with work, relationships, or life in general.
The weekend was spent preparing for my two new roommates, who are also the newest members of our staff team. Robin and Diana moved in on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, and they've already settled in quite nicely. I'm so excited to have these girls live in the house with me. I'm looking forward to living in a house with all staff members; these women are like-hearted and we are all working toward the same vision.
Tonight was our first all-staff dinner. It was fun to sit there and look around the table, realizing these 10 people are the people with whom I have the privileging of working this year. It's encouraging as we head into a new semester with all that entails. And with that, here we go...
