A Trip and An Observation

I just spent two days in LA, catching up with my good friends, Jen and Leo, and my brother, Jesse. Jen and Leo have been living in LA for three years as Leo pursues a career in cinematography. I've known Jen basically all of my life, and she has been a sweet lifelong friend. It was good to catch up and reminisce, and see what their life is like these days. I also got to spend some time with their 20 month old daughter, Vivien, who is absolutely precious. There is something wonderfully refreshing about friends with whom you can pick up right where you left off, no matter how much time has passed.

My brother just moved to LA for an internship which is the final step to his becoming a sound engineer. I got to meet his roommates and see where he's living, and just spend a little bit of time hanging out with him. I always have a good time when he's around, and am excited about the possibilities of getting to spend more time together - whether in LA or San Diego.

Oh, and I got to have lunch on my way back with my good friend Joanna.

It was a good couple of days.

On a slightly less happy note, I've discovered something sad about both LA and San Diego. There is a constant haze in the air. If you look straight up, you can kind of tell that the sky is blue, but if you look out at the horizon, you'd swear it was gray...or kind of a grayish-brown. Sometimes I go outside, and think that it's a slightly cloudy day, and the sky is gonna clear up, but it just doesn't really. There is a constant thick layer of smog that just doesn't let up. Okay, maybe I'm painting a worse picture than it actually is, but I really, really miss Arizona's bright blue skies. I guess I'll just have to spend a lot of time at the beach looking at the skies over the ocean. Too bad for me.
