So, since my last post, I have listened to almost nothing but Christmas music. I think something about declaring it on the world wide web freed me up to just jump right in. I'm gonna try to hold off on watching Christmas movies until after Thanksgiving, however. And, we won't decorate our house until after Thanksgiving either. So...I'm just easing myself into the Christmas season.
Sort of. I went to Target last night with my roommate, Ann. We spent quite a bit of time going through the clearance racks of clothing, sifting through jewelry and accessories, and trying on several pairs of shoes. It was quite delightful, but I found that I didn't really light up until we reached the seasonal display. The lights, the decorations, the tree trimmings...to me they all looked like a million possibilities for beauty. The baking aisle, with Christmas sprinkles, and snowmen cookie cutters (which, I proudly pointed out to Ann, I already own), and holiday themed baggies to put goodies in...it's a cookie-decorating party just waiting to happen. And, finally, the dining decor, with table runners, chargers, Christmas dishes, beautiful candles and their holders, and on and on...I can just see the beautifully arranged table fit for a Christmas feast.
I exercised great restraint, and walked out of Target with only the things on my original list (filters, ziplocs, cheap sunglasses, and an ink cartridge) plus one piece of apparel. But that doesn't mean that I wasn't dreaming in red, green, white and silver, with the sparkle of twinkle lights and the soft glow of candlelight.
Ah, the Christmas season. Bring it on, I say. Bring it on.
