Back Again

I spent last week in Gilbert with my family, and it was good. All of my siblings were able to come into town to celebrate the life of our grandpa, and the presence of our whole family made all the difference in the world. My dad said about 1000 times, "it is so good to have my family here."

The funeral on Friday was pretty amazing. I've only been to one other funeral, and that was when I was really young, so I don't have much experience in these things, but I was blown away by the sheer numbers of people who came. The church was packed; people were standing along the side aisles, people were standing in the lobby, and people were even standing outside. My grandpa touched so many people, and LOVED so many people. It was also huge for me to see people come who didn't necessarily have a direct relationship with my grandpa, but who love my dad and our family. One family friend flew out from Atlanta just to love on my dad and to love on us. It spoke volumes to me.

And, the outpouring of love from people who don't even know my family, but love me, has been overwhelming. I am so grateful that God created us to be a part of a Body, and that He has allowed me to experience the encouragement that Body can be.

Now, it's back to life in Tucson.
