A Day In Mexico

I just got back from church in Mexico, and thought I'd share my experience with you before I crash (it's been a long week with many early mornings, including this one).

The family of one of the students in our ministry, Steven, lives in Nogales, Arizona and is part of a church in Nogales, Mexico. For the past two years over spring break, we have taken our students down to help serve the church and experience Mexico. We have formed a bond with the people of this church, and we will be returning this spring to try to help them in their goal to complete construction of their sanctuary this year. However, as Nogales is only just over an hour away, some of us have been able to visit on the occasional weekend, and continue to build friendships with various members of the church. It's so neat to realize that although we can hardly communicate and although our cultures are quite different, because we share a knowledge of Jesus, we are family.

So, today, Sarah and I joined Steven and some of the guys for church in Mexico. This is me and Sarah outside after the service:

For those of you who pay attention to such things, I do realize that I am writing this as the Super Bowl is starting, and I do realize that the fact that my television is off is shocking to much of America. While I grew up in a household where the Super Bowl party was a much-anticipated yearly event, and in spite of my mother's efforts, I did not inherit an interest in football. I'm sorry to disappoint you all.
