September 25th Already?!?!

So, for about the past week, I've been thinking, "Gosh, I should update my blog, it's been awhile, and people are probably wondering what I've been up to." So this morning I sign into blogger and see "Last post: September 8". Oh my gosh! Has it really been 2 1/2 weeks?! And, is it really already the end of September?!? Yes, yes it is. So, here is a quick recap:

The staff meetings in Pismo were an encouraging time to be with friends from throughout the region. The weather was beautiful, and I was able to reconnect with several friends while looking out over the ocean. Here are a couple pictures from our time on the beach:

The other exciting news from Pismo is the formation of a new intentional relationship between one Dustin Butler and one Lori Bowman. Here is the take of one of our students on what happened...

After returning from California, my life has been somewhat of a whirlwind of ministry and personal stretching. That is, spiritual stretching, although I have been trying to keep up with my workouts with Mikhail, which involves physical stretching. But I digress.

My ministry responsibilities are starting to be a bit more normal, but I'm quickly discovering that there are unlimited opportunities and limited resources (namely time). I was talking to one of my roommates about leading my junior Bible study last night, and it dawned on me that I now have to make the distinction between my junior Bible study and my freshmen Bible study. I am now co-leading the freshmen study with Christy, one of the junior girls. And so, I find myself involved in four Bible studies, two of which I'm leading. Is that too much? Fortunately, I'm excited about each of the studies, and I've done three of the four studies already, so that cuts down in prep time. So, although the thought of four is a bit overwhelming, in reality I'm enjoying my part in each of them.

As far as personal stretching goes, God has been pulling back the curtain for me on just how much I really need Jesus as my Savior on a daily basis. It's a humbling thing to face your sin, but it is so sweet to find Jesus in the midst of it.

"Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths;

guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,

and my hope is in you all day long." -Psalm 25:4-5

Four bible studies? And still finding time to plan a peer group party?
