MLK Weekend - the history

Sorry for the lack in posting the last several days; Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend is a crazy time of year for me, and I'll tell you why.

Four years ago, our ministry was pretty small. We had a few key students (of which I was one), and three staff. To start off the spring semester, we decided it would be fun to take advantage of the three-day weekend and go on a little retreat. It would be a time where we could just enjoy each other and relax and start the semester off right. So, six students and two staff drove two hours north of campus to my home in Gilbert. There was a lot of time to chill, and some fun things to do on the side, including a tour of the family's dairy with the opportunity to go cotton jumping, and the chance to drive a huge tractor.

In case you can't tell, Crystal and I are making a U and an A - for UA...University of Arizona...get it?

Well, since that time, the retreat has become an annual thing, and we have grown in size. This year we had 55 students and 4 staff (of which I am one). It's still a time to hang out and relax, but as it has grown, my job is a little more involved. Thankfully, my parents have taken a huge part of the load, providing several of the meals, and accommodating us in any way we need. Thanks to their help, and the help of some of our neighbors, we had a great time with good conversations, fun games, and meaningful time with God.

I'm waiting for a few more pictures, and then I'll post again detailing some more of the weekend for you.
