MLK Weekend in Pictures

As promised, I've got some fun pictures from the weekend. For me, the weekend started with a trip to Sam's club. Buying food for 60 is quite the task, and I wasn't exactly planning ahead when I drove my beetle...
Thankfully, with the back seat down, there's actually a lot of room in my car, and we were able to make it all fit.One thing we do every year is go to the park by the lake near my parent's house for some ultimate Frisbee and a picnic lunch. These are the freshmen girls in front of the grain silos. Unfortunately this year we've had some unusual cold spells, so we ate lunch while we tried to huddle together to prevent freezing. Great bonding!
A game of ultimate...
After the day at the park, we all headed down to Joe's Real BBQ in downtown Gilbert for dinner. It's a great time with great food.
One of my favorite things to get at Joe's is their Jumbo Stuffed Baker - a huge baked potato with barbecued meat on top. Yum yum!
Another favorite event is the tour of the dairy, culminating in cotton jumping. In case you're curious...at the dairy they feed cotton seed to the cows. There are still some fibers on the seeds, so they're really soft. As you can see in the picture below, they pile up the seeds into a soft, fluffy mountain which, with permission (which we had), you can climb up...
...and jump down...
It's a ton of fun, although you find cotton seeds in places you never knew about.

For dinner on Sunday, the guys grilled steaks while the girls baked potatoes and made the most massive salad I've ever seen. Think of the type of bucket you go bobbing for apples in, and imagine that filled with salad. It was incredible.
Finally, the weekend included a plethora of games - card, board, word or any other type you can think of - and a lot of time for meaningful conversations.

One other thing I don't have a picture of is the time we spent on Sunday morning. After a time of singing worship songs, my parents gave a talk on generosity. It was so fun to hear them speak about something which is really a passion of theirs. There was a lot to their talk, but they gave four points which really made sense. They said you need to glorify God in how much you give, how you give it, how much you keep and how you keep it. Such simple advice, but so profound. They did an amazing job, and really inspired our students to think differently about giving.
With all that, it was quite a weekend!
