Movie Night!

Last night, some of the ladies in my bible study came over for a movie night. Those of you who know me well know that I am a fan of movies. I love shots of sweeping scenery, characters who change from beginning to end, plots which twist in unexpected directions, and endings where good triumphs over evil. I love movies which, once over, provoke conversation. Not the kind of conversation where everyone is trying to figure out what just happened because things were so confusing, but the kind of conversation where someone says "I loved this part because...", and you start to understand a person's heart based on what spoke to them in the film. I love that something which can often be purely for entertainment value has the potential to be an amazingly relational thing.

And last night, it was sweet to bond with these women over "Sense and Sensibility." We shared Elinor's pain over having to befriend her love's fiance, shared anger at Willoughby's insensitive and selfish treatment of Marianne, and collectively melted into our seats as Edward finally proclaims "My heart has been, and always will be...yours." (Insert clutching of the heart, and a small gasp by almost every girl in the room.) It was a great night.
