Introducing Club Kens

We've lived in Kensington for over a month now, but for the aforementioned reasons, we're finding that we are still getting settled into our new home. Having been able to put a little more effort into it over the past week, I now have some pictures to share. So, without further ado...

Welcome to our street in Kensington...

This picture doesn't really do it justice. It's a darling tree-lined street filled with darling craftsman homes with darling front porches. Well, most of the homes have darling front porches. Ours looks like this:
Yes, this is the front of the house. And yes, that's a wall. And a hedge. So inviting, don't you think? I'd be pretty bummed about this hedge, except for that fact that on the other side is this:So, we don't have a darling front porch, but we do have this pretty sweet little patio area. Right now, I'm envisioning two little wrought iron chairs with a wrought iron table between them, me and a friend sitting at said table in said chairs, sharing a cup of coffee (if it's morning) or a glass of wine (if it's evening).

One thing at a time, however. And the first thing I wanted to do was to get our front living area settled, so that even if the rest of the house was in chaos, there would be a restful place to sit. So, this is the sight which greets you when you enter the front door:

Come on in and have a seat! The rest of the room looks like this:
We're still getting it settled in, as I said before, but here are a few of my favorite parts of this room:

I love sitting here in the mornings with a cup of coffee, my Bible and my journal. Particularly if my other roommates aren't up yet, the house is quiet except for the slow and steady ticking of the clock over the fireplace.
If you walk past this little reading nook, and past the dining room table, you make your way into our kitchen. It's not in the best shape yet, so you only get to see two angles.

Make your way through the hallway, move past the built-in shelves filled with candles and glassware (it's part of my job, people! The fact that I had most of this stuff before I officially became an event planner doesn't mean anything...really)...
...and you get to my room!
You may recognize some of this stuff from the Strudel. I tell you what, I'm thrilled to have it back with me! Note the sweet built-in shelves on the wall...
I also love the windows which let in a good amount of light while I'm working at my desk.
The Myers-Briggs personality profile says that ISFJs like their homes to be aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. I'm sure I have no idea what they're talking about...
